Eco Organics
Simple Sustainability

Eco-organics is an environmental company based in Melbourne Victoria. We specialise in totally natural methods of food waste recycling, organic fertilisers and soil conditioners, and organic odour control. We are Australia's leading supplier of Bokashi food waste recycling systems, and use a unique organic method called fermentation which is an exciting alternative to composting. Our products include the Eco Bokashi bucket (a food waste recycling system for home use), fermented fertilisers such as OrganiCure and Eco Bokashi, are totally unique in Australia, and are revolutionising the way Australia treats its waste. There is no longer any need for any food waste to be dumped in landfill. We are committed to the complete elimination of the disposal of organic waste into landfill.  We are committed to the re-direction of this material to effective use in agriculture and horticulture, enabling us to sustainably produce healthy and safe food.
Eco-organics recycles a wide range of organic wastes from both industry and agriculture. We then convert them into highly nutritious soil conditioners for use on broadacre farms, commercial gardens and nurseries, and domestic gardens.
We also provide guest speakers to various organisations, including schools and community groups, on the subjects of environmental sustainability.  More information can be found
here.
Eco-organics is also a supplier of a wide range or organic microbial cultures and enzymes, an exciting new organically certified technology which harnesses the power of beneficial microbes to break down and recycle organic wastes. It is also an excellent, natural method of odour control and soil improvement.

Domestic Eco Bokashi Bucket

"I spoke to you a couple of weeks ago about the beans and pumpkins we grew. These were both planted directly on top of a full bucket of mature bokashi. I have been a vegetable gardener for a long time and I was amazed at the speed of growth and the good health of the plants. The beans were overplanted and never looked it. The seed was out of date which usually means less vigour in their growth and a poor germination. We have been eating masses of beautiful climbing beans which are the most superb flavour. The pumpkins were planted in a poor area where a lemon tree had died. Again the speed of growth was amazing. I harvested them all today from three plants but all sown together, they weighed a total of 48kilograms with the biggest being 14.5kg.

We are having fun!"
Kind regards

Commercial Eco Bokashi Bin

The Eco Bokashi system is available in larger sizes as well, specifically designed for commercial operations.  The material treated in the bin can be used on site, or collected by Eco Organics (Melbourne Metropolitan only) and processed off-site.  Either way, not one gram of food waste need ever go to landfill.

Eco Organics also provides a collection service for commercial foodwaste in the Melbourne Metropolitan area.  Our clients include Ford, Banyule Council, Department of Defence and Yarra Valley Water, and the results have been excellent - 100% of food waste is recycled into valuable soil additives, and much of it is applied to our demonstration property in Glenaroua.

"We at Banyule have implemented the Bokashi system at a number of our own offices, and are trialling the commercial sized bin as well.  We are very happy with the system, and it has been very readily accepted by our staff.  The 20 litre buckets are situated in our lunch rooms and office kitchens, and take all organic wastes - including a large proportion of citrus and fruit scraps, which are usually a problem for  worm farms.  The full buckets are collected by Council's Cleansing Unit and the contents are dug into our gardens.   The 'Bokashi Juice'  as it has become known by staff is highly sought after as a liquid fertiliser for home gardens .  Overall, it's a great system!"

Sustainable Farm Project

ABC Australian Story - photo of Peter Andrews

Natural Sequence Farming

Eco Organics has engaged the services of Peter Andrews, who recently featured on ABC TV's Australian Story.
Peter is a rare Australian thinker, whose genius has sparked a complete paradigm shift within Australian agriculture.
Eco Organics has commenced the
Glenaroua Project , working with Peter on a whole farm plan for the company's small farm in Glenaroua, central Victoria.  Combining Peter's Natural Sequence Farming principles with our own Eco Bokashi and EM processes, we aim to:

  • arrest the progress of salinity;
  • reverse serious soil erosion;
  • re-introduce biodiversity within a commercial farming system;
  • increase farm productivityand profitability;
  • provide a demonstration site for sustainable dryland agriculture.

The project will be fully documented on this website throughout its development.   Full details of the Glenaroua project can be found here.
