Every year, Australia dumps thousands of tonnes of dog and cat waste into landfill - and the rest of it goes down gutters and drains and into our waterways.  What a waste!

Like any other organic waste, dog and cat droppings are a resource that can be added to soils and gardens to improve our environment.  But until now, recycling this material has been too difficult - now it is easy, safe and highly effective with SHIFT! Eco Bokashi for pet waste.

Eco Bokashi has been used extensively across Australia and around the world to treat organic wastes including foodwaste.  We have applied the same process to cat and dog waste - to great effect.

SHIFT! is a specific blend of Eco Bokashi - a cocktail of Efficient Microbes in crushed grain - with an added absorbent material.  It is used just like Eco Bokashi - add the SHIFT! product to any type of dog or cat waste, and the beneficial microbes will go to work to consume the waste - all the time out-competing pathogens and disease-producing microbes.  All the organic material - including the nutrients - are returned to the soil, all without odour, flies or other problems.

HOW IT WORKS

Just shovel or rake the droppings  into a shallow trench in garden soil, and sprinkle with a handful of Shift!  Then cover with soil and/or mulch (just a couple of inches thick) and now the microbes in Shift! will go to work to accelerate the decomposition of the droppings in the soil.  All nutrients and organic material will remain in the garden, and pathogens will be out-competed by the beneficial micro-organisms.

SHIFT! can also be:

• sprinkled on kitty litter to reduce odour and accelerate breakdown;
• spread on dog runs, kennels and bedding to reduce odour;
• placed in the bottom of bird cages;
• spread in poultry sheds

DIRECTIONS

• dig a small hole in the garden soil ~ 20 cm deep;
• place pet waste into bottom of hole to about 5 cm thickness;
• sprinkle a handful of SHIFT! over the waste, covering thinly the entire surface area;
• cover with 5 - 10 cm of soil
• if soil is particularly dry, spray area with some water;
• you can now plant into that soil within 10-14 days;
• you can repeat the above steps to create layers in the same hole, or make a new hole elsewhere;
• always keep the SHIFT! bag completely airtight and out of direct sunlight.
